Default Model 66 no dash........

Hi folks,
Today i was lucky enough to buy a no dash 66 4"
It has Both stainless front and rear sights with no red ramp... from what i have read that would mean that this is a 1970 revolver ... serial # is 4k514xx
Can anyone confirm this please ?
I am so excited as everyone on here just loves these cool revolvers... i am planning on using it for a club match in 25 yard distances.... shot using no speedloaders and loading from the pocket ...
Could someone also recommend some mods that i can do to make the trigger a bit lighter ... ( spring weight ? ) or stoning the sear ?
And ideas for making the front ramp more visible in sunny conditions...
Thank you in advance...
Regards
Anthony

Latest book shows 1973 for your 66. Get you some colored electrical tape to stick on your sites when practicing on occasion, yellow or orange front, black on rear.

The SCSW has it at 1973 as it's in the range for 1973 4K1628-4K54104. I have one with the stainless rear sight with the red ramp front sight.

Nice find, you will like it a lot. The more you shoot it, the smoother it gets. I have the same gun, however I have replaced the front sight with S&W green fiber optic and the rear is plain blue blade. The stainless sights are very hard to use for any type of competition shooting. The front sight are pinned, and can be changed with no problem. Enjoy!!

I, too, have an "all stainless" 66 no dash. The sights are really no problem except in bright light. Then, they can be a big problem if the sun is behind you. I've found no need to modify the trigger on my gun, the more I shoot it, the smoother it gets. Mine is very, very accurate. Presently, I'm shooting mostly 158gr. .38+P (Speer) with it. When I fire magnum rounds occasionally I stick with 158gr. JHPs from HSM.

I don't recommend modding the factory parts.
Woff GunSprings has what you need at modest prices.

I too have a 66 no dash all stainless sights. It is also marked WHP. Wyoming Highway Patrol I have been told. It shows holster wear but is still a tight gun and shoots great.
