Need info on 38 S&W SPC CTG
My previous newbie thread was very inaccurate due to my not having revolver in hand. The barrel has the Smith & Wesson with 38 S&W SPC CTG underneath. It has a barrel that measures 2" from front of barrel to front of revolving cylinder. The wooden handle is squared and has the "diamond" around the screw hole. It has 6 apparent screws 3 on the side visible and one under the butt, one in the front side of the butt and one in front of the triggerguard. I've been told it is "color cased" the SN# is "C1610XX . It appears tight not loose and alittle fuzz rust on the top of the trigger. I has a ramp sight. The SN# is stamped on the inside of the right butt plate which I've read indicates original from factory. Any help dating or pricing would be helpful.

Sounds like you have a early 50's M&P snubbie. We'll need to see pictures and know condition to give price opinion.
And............Welcome to the Forum!

I'll give you $10.
I'll make it $20 if you start your own thread.

I would guess in the $350 range with light visible wear, up to about $450 or so if it looks like Chad's, based on recent sales.

BTW, everyone calls such a gun a 5-screw, since we don't count the screw in the front of the butt (generally called a strain screw, because it puts the mainspring under a strain). The smaller guns don't even have such a screw nowadays, since they use a coil mainspring instead of a leaf. Guns with frames the size of yours and larger still do have leaf mainsprings and strain screws.

@Sugabear,
The Smith and Wesson in the thread is most likely a Military and Police, which became known as the Model 10. It is a K frame revolver.
