Default Model 36 I Serial Number dating

Ok I'm new here and I'm trying to figure out the age of my Model 36 .38 special revolver. Here's the thing tho after several hours of searching everywhere including here I have yet to find an approximate date to my firearm.

S/N j464623

Also the model number listing is that of Model 36 I with no dash from looking around I have figured that they helps with dating. Barrel is pinned and it has beautiful diamond checkered original grips. Also the weapon is a three screw as well. This weapon was passed down to me from my father earlier this year. It has less then 200 rounds fired through it and is in excellent condition. I will add pictures here tomorrow morning after i get up and have some more time to answer questions and what not as well.

That's what I thought but from my understanding they no longer included the checkered grips then and as far as i can tell they have never been changed out. Although I could be wrong. I will have to ask my father when he remembers getting it and where.

Take the grips off and look on the inside of them. They should have the SN. of the gun stamped on one of them. That is the easy way to see if they came with the gun or not.
