Default M36 No-dash Question

I inherited a M36 No dash back in 1989 and never really checked the box side panel carefully. The serial number on the box & gun take it to 1975/76, but it does not indicate -1 next to the model # on the gun. In the "Special Features" box it indicates PC 195 x. Does that have any meaning or is it just some sort of inventory/bin number ? Thanks!

A model 36-1 is a gun with a 3" heavy barrel. Don

Aha.... yes, my 3" is a -1. Thanks for the clarification. Any ideas on the PC 195x "special feature"?

I am far from an expert, like so many others here, but PC could indicate "Performance Center", and that would mean your model 36 is special for some specific reason.
You might want to get S&Ws' Roy Jinks to letter that one...

Thanks, mrwildroot. Guess it could be Performance Center something...
Just wonder what they would have done to a J-Frame back in 1975. Maybe worked on the action as it has always seemed smoother than other J-Frames I have owned. Inherited the snub when my father died in 1989.....sold all the others as I wasn't "into" guns @ the time.( If I only knew then what I know now....sheesh!) One of his friends had the wisdom to say "keep the snubbie". For once, I listened. Not common in those days.
Never paid any attention to the flap until the box fell off the storage shelf the other night.....20 years later. Life's funny sometimes.

David1958,

Did you get the tools and original wrapping paper with it?
Also, perhaps a target trigger or target hammer were installed at that time...For sure, I would assume that the action was tweaked.
What a great find!

Yes, the label is upside-down and actually still attached. Serrated trigger & standard hammer. I have the screwdriver, warranty card & holster ad card. The rest is long gone. Thanks for your feedback!

At the time this gun was made there wasnt a Performance Center. It is more likely it stands for "Plain Clothes as in the grips. Can you post a pic of the label?
