Default Presentation box question

I picked up a S&W presentation box at an antique store this weekend and cant seem to find any info about it. Its dark greenish blue, seems to be made of molded particle board with the S&W logo molded on to the cover on the lower left corner. The inside has almost perfect blue flocking and has an impression of a 6 inch revolver with a area for tools.

I'm unable to find any info in the S&W bookand unable to put a photo up at this time, any info would be appreciated.

Sounds like a salesman's sample display box for the K Masterpiece series. Just a guess. If I can find a pic,I'll post it.

Here is a few pictures of one of 2 I own. I was told that S&W developed this case for the K-38 Masterpiece like F.T. said. They were scrapped before they were released due to the fragile nature of the boxes themselves. Some people refer to them as Salesman Samples.

patsfan,

I was told that they were made in the late 40's and when cleaning house sometime in the 50's or 60's they dumped a few pallet loads into the trashcans, scavengers apparently took few out.
