Default 66-1 Question

Hey whats happening. Long time lurker, finally have a S&W question yall may be able to help me with.
I have a trade lined up a LNIB SST Mini-30 value about 600-650, for this 66-1

Is this a Equitable trade?(I think its pretty close) He is supposed to have box and all paper work. I did a exhaustive search and can't seem to find a 66-1 with pinned barrel and recessed cylinder with the rollmark on the left side, am I missing something here? Thanks for any input. OH yeah serial is 96K72xx

Welcome to the Forum!

Early (P&R) Model 66 snubbies frequently sell for $600 and up. With the condition stated and box with paperwork, you'll not get hurt on the deal.

I have seen a model 66 no dash with the small left logo, and a 66-2 with the large right logo, but have no 66-1 photos to compare. I suspect the small left logo is not unusual.

I would rather have the Model 66, myself. If I want to shoot 7.62x39, I have a very nice Yugo AK. I would rather have an AK or SKS than a Mini.

Your guns serial number places it around 1981. I am not sure when they switched to the small S&W rollmark on the left side of the frame, thought it was later than that. I have not myself ever seen a 66-1 with the small rollmark. All the 66-1s that I have seen have the large rollmark on the sideplate. Maybe someone else will chime in with more information. Welcome to the Forum.

You might have a logo transition gun.
My 66-1 99K has recessed cylinder, no pin, and small logo on the left side

FWIW I have a 66-1 with no logo (rollmark?) on the left and a large one on the right. The serial number is 21K94xx. I would welcome some feedback on the production date on this one.

Thanks
Joe

I did a little reading in the FAQs. Looks like my pistol was manufactured in 1977.
