Finally found a nice Model 48!
Picked up this one at the big gun show in Phoenix yesterday. It's a Model 48-2 K-22 Masterpiece, with a 6" barrel. Chambered in .22 RFM (of course), it appears to have been fired very little. It will be a companion piece for my old model Ruger Super Single Six, chambered for the same cartridge. I have found the .22 rimfire magnum to be superb on small game such as rabbits, chucks and such out to 50 yards, and I'm looking forward to putting this revolver through its paces. Now I have a few Smith revolvers in 22 LR, and this one in the magnum chambering. I've been looking for one of these for quite a while, and was delighted to get one with the original box, papers and accessories!

Very nice, good job!
I've always thought it really interesting that the only .22 mags in the world marked '.22 MRF' were from Smith.
The whole world refers to the cartridge as '.22 WMR', but no, not S&W.......

Yes, a very nice model 48!
Way back when, the Military & Police in .32-20 was stamped ".32 Winchester", but the examples of gun makers not wanting to stamp their competitor's name (or initial) on their gun are many...the .32 and .38 Colt New Police instead of S & W, and in the opposite direction no one else marks their .38 S & W Specials and .357 S & W Magnums as such except you-know-who. .17 HMR is okay because Hornady doesn't make guns, I guess...
