STILL can't get Clapton's version of that song OR the recent Tulsa gun show outta my head!
Some of you who frequent the "S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1960" section may have seen my thread on the many excellent S&W revolvers I picked up at the show from that era and their corresponding stories.
Here are some from the 1961-1980 era that I brought home and their corresponding purchase adventures:
Flipping Out
First up is a gun I bought on Friday, (Dealer Day), from Steve H. who is sometimes seen on this forum and has some of the NICEST S&W Revolver's and Accessories I've ever had the pleasure to see.
Another SWCA guy (who's name I don't now recall) was admiring and handling this gun when I first went up to Lee, Many, and Steve's tables.
When I saw what it was I almost wet my pants!
I waited patiently until he gave it back to Steve and asked if he was going to buy it. He said no, and I asked Steve if I could see it.
It was love at first sight!
I've been wanting one of these for a long time and this is one of the nicest one's I've seen. Best of all it had it's original serial #'d grips, box and papers. I even managed to find the proper tool set for it after I got it home.
A REALLY nice Model 58!!
I've been able to buy quite a few very nice Model 57's in all barrel lengths in my time but had never managed to find a 58.
The .41 mag is my FAVORITE large caliber handgun cartridge of all time!
Well,
Steve and I started "Hoss Tradin" and came to kind of an impasse when he said "OK, I'll flip ya for the difference.... you call it"
This was a new one on me!
In over 30 years of swapin S&W revolvers I've never had a seller make me this offer before!
How fair can you get???
I called heads and guess what?? It actually came up heads!
Needless to say I immediately handed him the cash!
I came about theeeese close to buy'in a really nice 25-5 four inch he had but I couldn't get to his price and he told me up front that he wouldn't "flip me" for any more guns!!
Speakin of 57's
Here is a really nice Nickel 57-1 I manged to find in the last few hours of the show on Sunday.
It was too nice to pass up. All original, even the grips are serial #'d to the gun. The Nickel on this thing is WAAAY better than it looks in the pics.
Red Ramp, White Outline, TT, TH & TS
No Box or papers...too bad it deserves them!
Like I said it was LATE on Sunday afternoon so the seller was VERY motivated and made me a GREAT deal!
More Later....gotta go watch the Lions lose another football game!
