I'm surprised to hear the Nevada HP carried .41 mag. That's the first state I've heard of that carried a larger caliber than 357 mag.

When I was a kid back in the early 70's my Uncle was a Nevada State Trooper. He had a 41 but I'm not sure if it was his duty gun or if it was one he confiscated from some one he arrested and sent to prison.

"That's the first state I've heard of that carried a larger caliber than 357 mag."
Alabama State Troopers were issued .357 revolvers in the 1960s and 1970s. A trooper I knew carried a Trooper Mark III Border Patrol revolver.
However, they could carry their own revolvers if they wanted to. Another trooper I knew carried a 6 1/2 M29 .44 Magnum.

I think it was San Francisco CA, San Antonio TX, and Louisville KY that also adopted the 41 mag. Correct me if I am wrong, because I would like to know

New York state troopers once carried .45 Colt New Services, as did the RCMP from 1904-1953, if I recall the dates right.
