I lucked into this 19-3 from an impulse bid on everyones favorite gun auction site. Infiuenced by a product from Mr. J. Daniels late on a Saturday night I placed my bid that I was certain would not win... Aaand I won it for a song. It had original type magnas but they were not number correct so I swapped on the Hogue tulipwood grips. This one gets attention at the range. A keeper for sure!

My First S&W
My first S&W - a Model 66 police turn-in from when most departments were going over to semi-autos. Obviously carried but in fine shape. I recently cleaned it up and added new Altamonte stocks.

I love the snubbies, especially the Combat Magnum. Yours is quite beautiful. Congrats on the auction win.

The Performance Center offered a similar thumb piece variant with the lower half shaved down for better speed loader clearance; that looks like one, or cut to do the same.

I don't believe they were -- but the part swaps easy, and gunsmiths also offered the modification...

Just for fun, here's this one:
It's a 19-3 I was able to talk a forum member out of through the 'Wanted to Buy' section. Not at all a screamin' deal but I had to have it and I'm happy I paid what I did. It came to me with correct type magna grips but after I tried the Kim Ahrends cocobolo retro combats there was no turning back. This one is a family favorite.

Model 19's are funny things with me. They sort of come and go for no real reason that I can think of, but it seems I always have one.
This one, a 4", -4 is the latest. Just a "shooter." Nothing special really. It does have a really nice trigger.

Combat Magnums
Here's a couple of 66-1s and a couple of 19-4s. The 2 1/2 Model 19-4 has a target hammer and trigger. Forgive the oil smudges.

Despite some pitting in the barrel from the previous owner who didn't take care of this old girl, she's still a shooter. Picked up this Model 19-3 a couple of months ago and it's revived my love of shooting the .357/.38 cartridge.

19-4
I just recently came into this 19-4, serial 42K7***. Supposedly it was an issued piece at the PD I work for and was sold off when they transitioned to something else. This is definitely something I plan on confirming with a letter one of these days. I'm about the 4th owner since that happened. It has the holster wear and the dinged right corner of the rear sight that is indicative of a carry gun for sure. It had smooth Arhends grips on it when I got it, which I changed out for this set of Davis grips I had laying around because I've been using it for the service revolver match in PPC. It'll sure chew the X's out of a B27 at 25 yards! Can anyone give me a date based on the s/n?

New to me 19-5 nickle. I sliced off a section of my safety glasses earpiece to file and place in for the missing red ramp. Some blemishes where prior owner toted rubber grips.
A BK grip adapter and generic grips closely mimics my 19 I carred in the 70's as a long haired VCO detective.

Some awesome revolvers in this thread, i'll add my 3 ..
This is my Model 19 No Dash .. Picked up at a LGS .. dates to 1959, my first 4 screw. Was happy to add it to my collection, she shoots awesome. Also has the target hammer. Thinking about getting a letter on her.
This is my 66-1 .. I picked up from a fellow forum member and good friend that I met who lives close and we shoot the breeze and help each other out when we come across something .. it came with orig box, tools, paper work and is in mint condition, a keeper for sure.
Last is my 19-4 in 2.5" .. She is a shooter and has been shot and loved. Enjoy shooting her and tossed on a nice set of combats. she cleans up nice.

I just got it late yesterday. Thanks again Mike. Its great. I had to take the stags off as I personally think Diamond Targets look better. Here is the old gal the way I like her dressed.

19-3 TT, TH, W/O rear sight
19-3 Nickel. I picked this one up from a fellow forum member. I had to put diamonds on this one too. I know I know -3's should not have diamond grips. But try and take diamonds away from a girl after you put them on her. This one has been worked on by the performance center. The action is slick as owl bleep!

Pre 19 nickle combat magnum
Best for last. Last one for awhile. I posted on this about a month ago. I had it paired with my other Pre 19 Combat Magnum. Guys I lucked into this one on a auction. It was dirty as all get outs. It took some scrubbing and renaissance wax but it came out beautifully.
I had it pictured with my other Pre 19 Combat Magnum so I thought I would post some pictures of it by itself. I hope you enjoy them. I am very proud to own 2 of these.
Thanks for letting me share.

Guys it's time to breathe some life into a older thread. I visit this thread fairly often. Here are a few pictures of my Combat Magnum 4" nickel collection. I am fairly certain I will keep going at least to the -5. So far the -3 is as far as I have made it.But I am still very excited to have found the 19-1! It was by far the most difficult to locate. I have been informed by a very knowledgeable collector that there are a few early serial # nickel 19-3's out there with blued front sight and proud pins but I have yet to locate one.
I'll keep my eyes open. I would like to thank all the forum members who have helped me with this collection.
As always thanks for letting me share.
This consists of (2) No dash Combat Magnums, (1) 19 No dash with TT & TH, (1) 19-1, (1). 19-2 and lastly a super nice 19-3 With TT & TH.

Does anyone have a early s/n nickel 19-3 4" with blued front sight and proud pins? I would like to see a picture of one. I have seen them in blue finish but not nickel.

I would hate for this thread to die out (already took a hit with photobucket taking away most of the photos). Plus since I last posted I have another 19 and a 66.
So now I have a blue 4" 19-2, a nickel snub 19-4, and a snub 66-2 (This is one gun model that I will continue to buy more of for sure):

Never owned a 19. Not sure why it did not happen. In March at the local gun show, picked up a 66-2, 2'5" (1st 66). Surprised at how well I shoot it. Having cataracts done and corneas resurfaced, works wonders. My 10-5 also. Bob

Hay guys, two days ago I saw a 19-3(I think -3 P&R) looked unfired 2.5" nickel with bone grips at a local gs. I was shocked to see a 1,300 sticker wow, what's so special? Or did I pass up something special?
Good luck bananaman

Can you post a picture of the box label? That looks like a smooth combat trigger (.312" wide) and the standard hammer. The grips have been altered also.
That is a nice looking M66.

Just a heads up my pre 1970 nickel 19-3 with blue pinned ramp base is a 6" with Baughman FS blade
I have seen only one pre 1970 nickel 4" 19-3 with blue FS ramp since 2011 but it was a total roach so passed on purchasing it....

A friends 19-2 inherited from his Grandfather. I had it for a week for a thorough cleaning.

The ultimate Model 19/66 Combat Magnum thread
Recent acquisition... essentially it was a gift. Never owned a 3" K Frame before though I've wanted one. You can't see the magna ports in the pic but they exist. Maybe you'll notice the black front ramp or the factory bead blasted finish... I'll tell you it came with really chunky laminated rosewood combat grips. I'll also tell you it has a square ejector star and the action is superb. I was told it was factory action. Hmmm... what did I get here? Why is mine slightly different from the other -3 and -4 models? Well, through the good folks in this forum, I've discovered I've got a somewhat rare item. It is a 66-4 built in 1996 for RSR group as 1 of 500! Fortunately it's not in collector grade condition and for that I shot the hell out of it. Magnums, wadcutters , balls, hollowpoints... I absolutely love this gun and would tell anyone they need a 3" K Frame. Regards...
