41 Mag - Can you have too many?
Recently found an estate seller with twelve 41 magnums and couldn't refuse purchasing the last four he was selling. I am very excited to add these to the herd.
Pictures
#1 - All 4 crammed together in my small photo tent
#2 - 4" M57-SN# S318419 - Shipped 2/1970 per Mr. Jinks
#3 - 4" M58 - SN# N114576 - Added Stags
#4 - 6" M57 No Dash - SN# N833487
#5 - 6" M657 No Dash- SN# AVC0031 w/original box & tools
The S Prefix M57 (#2) came with relined presentation case and is my favorite of the four. Was surprised it shipped as late as 1970.
Thanks for letting me share my latest find.
Please share your 41 mags pictures or comments.
Thank you!
Ray

Your asking the wrong question to the biggest group of enablers that I have come to know and respect. My answer is no!
Looking for a 4".
Great collection BTW!

New member, first post other than new member posting so hopefully I do this correctly! No, I sure hope that you can't have too many as I'd like to have many more 41 mags! It's my favorite caliber and I pick up as many as I can when I come across them but congrats on scoring four from one seller as they'd be great additions to any collection!!! Here's a photo of a family of 657s with the 3" Lew Horton being one of my favorite 41 mags Thanks for letting me share if I did this correctly!

Nice haul OP, congrats!
All lovely, but the stags make that Model 58 look great.

You struck the Mother Lode!! The blued 4" in front is my favorite, what a nice finish it has.
Here are my two, the M57 is a "S" prefix from 1968. It had the vent rib add-on when I got it (gun show find), and it's the only revolver I have that I don't have the original stocks for.
The M58 is also a "S" prefix, from 1967. It was ANIB when I bought it two years ago, having spent its entire life in two separate safes. I bought it from a retired LEO who inherited it from his ex-partner, who bought it new.

What a nice find! Glad you had the $ to be able to buy them. I have plenty of Magnums....44s and .357s, but only this one .41 Magnum. The first S&W I ever purchased (back in the late 1970s) was a brand new blued 4" Model 57 like the one you just picked up. I really like the caliber and the revolvers, so I don't know why I don't have more of them! Enjoy!

I really like the 657 3" revolvers. I picked up 2 of them so I have a spare, just in case. I worked up a load with a 250 grain bullet that goes about 850 fps and is controllable to shoot (though the photo shows 210 gr JHP ammo in an HKS speed loader). Carries well in this Milt Sparks PMK. I don't use the S&W Combat stocks it came with as they do not fit my hand well.

No such thing as to many guns, as long as you can afford them. I don't have a .41 caliber revolver, but I am happy that you and others who want them can.

Instant 41 magnum collection!
I only have one but it's a BIG one: no dash 57 nickel, 8 3/8" bbl. I got it by "accident" as the seller said it was a 44 magnum but on arrival this is what he had. He knocked off $100 and of course I had to buy it...for $350.Yes..a few years ago..

Congrats on your four-gun acquisition! I've never had that kind of luck, so color me jealous!
I do have a nice pair of 6 inch 657's (one's scoped and Scary accurate!). Sorry, no photos at this time. I'm still searching for "plain" 57 or 58, but no luck so far.
My SIL recently steered me onto an OM Ruger Blackhawk in .41 mag. with 4-3/4" barrel and I'm really enjoying that one. I have another Blackhawk with a 6-1/2" barrel as well. That one also has a brass grip frame.
So to agree with the rest of the enablers - NO, you can't have too many .41 mags.

Early Model 57 shipped on March 10, 1964 in its velour lined presentation case. Click on the photo for a closer look.

Really enjoying seeing all these beautiful 41 mags. Doc44, I'm still searching for a beauty with cokes like you have there! Here's another small family photo of some no dash nickel 57s.

Not a fan of the 41 magnum, but I enjoy looking at the guns. They're beauties. I just imagine them to be 357 magnum revolvers.

WV2A,
Your post and picture are fine. Thanks for sharing your beauties!
I totally agree with you on 41 mags being a great caliber. I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of my 3" 657. I'm always on the lookout to buy another 3" but the prices have gone through the roof.
My Son-In-Law and I took the 3" to a range and both agreed it was very accurate for a 3"er and tons of fun to shoot. It had the factory combat grips and didn't have too much recoil for the larger .41 caliber.
Thanks again for sharing. Hope to see you post often and enjoy this marvelous forum.

I had a beautiful 6" 57 and sold it but kept my 58.
This 58, like all my other handguns is my favorite.
I have about 850 hot rounds and a couple of these speed loaders.

What a wonderful find
I fell in love with the 41 Magnum cartridge back in the eighties
Here is a group photo of my 41 Magnums that I took perhaps 15 years ago
Many more have been added since that photo
I would post more photos but I do not have a laptop where I am

Keith Brown sure knows how to dress up a gun.
I’ve got this model 57, a model 58 and a Ruger Old Model Blackhawk. According to most of you, nowhere near enough yet.
Regards,

I love S&W 41mgs. Why you ask? because I can trade them for 44s to those who don’t know better.

Walked in to the handgun hunting mode in the late 80's. My fav was an 8&3/8 57. I honestly am not 100% sure how many are in the collection.
Am going to get them all out soon. The 8&3/8 is my favorite barrel length but have most barrel lengths in S&W. I also have 4 Rugers and two TC's as well as two more wildcats. To many? I would have to say no.

I'm a big fan of the .41 Mag. I got these two on the same day earlier this year, a boxed 57 and a 58 from the San Francisco Police Department.
The 58 here is a pretty early one somewhere around late '64, early '65. The square butt 3" is an oddball. I once read about twenty were released during the big run in '86, but who knows. The 657-4 on the top left is the most uncommon of all my .41s. This is the actual 3" Lew Horton featuring the full lug, satin finish and ugly factory grips. I had been chasing a regular stainless 3" 657 when this one fell in my lap, box and all.
Marlin Cowboy Limited
A Henry rifle and snub nose Ruger Redhawk round them out.

A dear friend has a monstrous collection of .41 Mags. Here's a pic of three of his four Marlin .41 Mag trappers. These suckers don't come along too often.

I've got 7, including nickel 6 and 4 inch 57s, 4 inch 58, 657s in 61/2 and 4 inch, and 2-3" beauties. I love them. My favorite caliber. My great grandkids will have them someday...
Blessings.

I only have one but it's a BIG one: no dash 57 nickel, 8 3/8" bbl. I got it by "accident" as the seller said it was a 44 magnum but on arrival this is what he had. He knocked off $100 and of course I had to buy it...for $350.Yes..a few years ago..
