Default Value of NIB Nickel Model 36?

I have been advised of a Model 36 that is for sale locally. I am told that it was bought new in 1973 for $103 and it comes with a box of ammo. There are five rounds missing from the box, so theoretically it could be in unfired condition with those five rounds still in the gun. Or at most five rounds would've been fired through it. If it's unfired, what is it worth? What version was sold new in '73? Pinned barrel? Grooved trigger? Anything else? All I know is it was in long term storage so hopefully it hasn't become rusted or pitted. I'll know more shortly but I'm wondering if I can get a heads up.

Yes, 1973 should be pinned barrel. Standard narrow trigger was grooved.

I recently purchased a '73 vintage 36 no-dash in unblemished blued steel. It's a 3-incher with a round butt and a grooved trigger. Unfortunately, it had neither box nor papers. I gave $375 for mine and I think I got it for a really good price. I'm guessing that yours should be valued at somewhat more than that.

I've seen mint nickel 36's in the price range of $700 with box and papers.

I paid $397.99 OTD in Nov 2008 for my M36 No Dash, Ser. # J1276XX if someone wants to give me an approx birth date, blue, 2" NIB (Bangor Punta) #'d to gun with papers and tools. I was at a gun show this weekend and saw a couple of M36's NIB w/papers and tools. Both were RB & 2". The blue M36 was priced at $475.00. A friend of mine got it for $425.00 OTD. The M36 Nickel was priced at $675.00. I think it went home with the seller.

I know this is an old thread but I just bought a 1981 Model 36 nickel; has some wear on it & beneath the grip there are some #s someone scratched in it.
Any suggestions on how to best polish the wear and address the etched #s? Thankks.
