Default Need help identifying revolver

Hello all, this is my first post.Glad I found this site.Anyway,I bought a S@W .22mag. 20 or so years ago and I can't find any info.(It has no model # on it.) on this pistol. It says 22M.R.F. CTG on the barrel.Looks to be an 8".It has diamond checkerd grips. It also appears to have a very light trigger(maybe 2 pound pull). Can anyone tell me about this wheel gun? Thanks,Mike.

S&W began stamping model numbers in 1957. The 22 WMR came out in 1959. Therefore I do not believe any S&W in 22 Magnum is not model marked.

The K frame model 48 is a good candidate. If it says exactly 22 MRF it may be an early Model 53 as these were marked 22 Mag for a time before the 22 Jet caliber was marked. The lack of the W (for Winchester) makes me think it could be the 53.

Is the ejector rod covered with a shroud? The 53 was and the 48 was not. Look on the frame under the cylinder crane. Any 22 mag should have a model number.

Hi, 1962-'67. If you give a partial number from the bottom of the grip frame, we can tell you the year (K 567xxx).
