Default Decent belly gun....S&W 19

I have a bud who is retiring next week from the PD.
Like a lot of us he has picked up a few guns along life's way.
He and his wife are going to travel a great deal upon his retirement.
So he decided to pass his guns onto his sons.
He has three (26-31YRS) he lays all the guns on his pool table and they start picking.( He is keeping his 29-2 and a model 36)..not one of those
boys wanted the wheelgun.
He brought it to work last week...."$300.00 and lunch and it's yours".
We had steaks.
1974 vintage 19-3 very low round count..never a mag round.
The stocks have to go..I have a proper pair at the shop.

Some body needs to educate those kids. I'm glad the 19 ended up with someone who will appreciate it. That configuration is one of the finest ccw revolvers out there. I like my guns with just a little wear like your new one so I can shoot them without worry about messing up the value. I agree the stocks have to go. Have a good time with your new acquisition.

Yep - I bet the kids took some of those "plastic guns". You got a great buy even if it cost you a steak!

Nice looking 19. I know you will enjoy it. The grips appear to be ajax. They look nice, but aren't the originals. Enjoy. Mark

Fantastic, clean "shooter". My 19-3 is about like yours and I don't think I've put 50 rounds through it!

I'm jealous. I bet those grips would look sharp on a short barrel 66.

I will agree with those who have already said great find.

Just curious, what type of grips are on the gun?

My last duty revolver issued to me was a 19-5 2.5" I purchased it from the wholesale company who we bought our Glocks from.

I traded it away but was "VERY LUCKY" and was able to buy it back. At this point in my life it is my favorite 357. I shoot 158SWCHP_GCs in it at a 1000fps and it's accurate and powerful enough for me. Enjoy yours, and wish your friend a well earned rest with many things to enjoy.

Im all about a fine automatic but someone really passed up a model 19-3 for a semi???? Only excuse is if it was a custom 1911, or maybe a S&W performance center 9mm longslide. I love my model 19, cant go wrong with one.

BTW: very jealous, of the find and great deal to.

Can't go wrong with a 2.5 inch Mod.19.
Maybe somewhat too much of old school for the youngest of us.
Let's give'em time.

I know you say "the stocks have to go", but personally I like them, and they were not inexpensive. If it will be a belly gun as you say, then you don't want rubbers on it, as they will hang up in your clothes. I keep Ajax on mine with a Tyler T-grip, and it is a carry gun...
