Default The S&W .22 revolver appreciation thread!

In celebration of the ending of a near 5 year search for a model 18 a couple of weeks back (see earlier thread), I'd like to begin a photo thread of S&W .22s. I'll begin with my small group:
Model 18-3 (shipped 1971):

Model 17-3 8 3/8" (shipped 1977) This gun has 3Ts and special order factory red post front sight:

Model 35 no dash (shipped 1959) This revolver is built on the improved I-frame and takes J-frame grips. It came with the original diamond magnas numbered to the gun which are shown in the photo. They are now safely in storage with the J-targets being used for shooting:

Show your S&W .22!

Default Don't forget the I-frame .22s

I have more .22 S&Ws than any other caliber right now. Not sure how that happened, since I think of myself as a .44 kind of guy. But much as I love my K-frame .22s (one Outdoorsman, three 5-screw Pre-17s), I think the ones I appreciate most are my I-frames, in particular two Prewar .22/32 Kit Guns:

530553, shipped March 1938

533556, shipped June 1940

These little gems are barely over eight inches long, stem to stern. I also like the .22/32 Heavy Frame Target Revolvers (Bekeart Style), but the longer barrel and the extension stocks just don't give these guns the appealing proportions of the round-butt Kit Guns. I-frames just look best with four-inch barrels and small stocks. (But that doesn't mean they shoot best when they are at their most attractive; there's a reason those oversize stocks exist.)

Just won this 34-1 yesterday. My first S&W .22 (not entirely true, as I used to have a 2214) - revolver. I'm sure it will meet my expectations.

Default my 617

I would show you a picture of my brand new 617 6"but I had to send it back to S&W after I noticed the barrel was over tightened(so much for Quality control) very dissapointed.

Default I'll play

Here are my two (for now)
My wife and I wed in 1984 and have been happily married for three years :-0 First time I met her Dad, he introduced me to this model 63. He had a paper plate target with a group a quarter would cover that she had shot with it. He was some kind of proud. She got it after he passed in 2004. Since she and I have twins ( sons ) it was plain as day I HAD TO HAVE another J frame .22 in 4" so the hunt was on. Oct 08 I scored this 34-1 at a local pawn shop with box and all goodies. So now the boys can argue over the color..... Heavy Sigh
Anyway my collecting sort of follows a pairs theme, these two...Wifes model 60 3" .38spl and my 36-1 3" blue ... my 19-3 4" nickel and my 19-4 4" blue etc...
So with no more ado, my 22"s

i have a well used but descent shape 4" model 63.

id love to be able to afford a 2" model 63 or model 34....but me thinks a old charter arms pathfinder will have to fill the void.

I lucked into my first one late last year. More to follow, I'm sure. A 1980 Model 48-4 With .22 MAG and .22 LR cylinders. The Magnas are numbered to the gun.

Default A temporal anomaly - I hope I can still share

Born in 1953 so it's a bit out of place but I hope no one minds.

There's some real beauties, in here. Sky-rocketing ammo prices led me to puchase my first .22LR; a M43. I enjoy shooting it so much that I gave it some company in the form of a 1948 K-22 and somewhat newer M63.

Default S&W Model 34-1

I just picked this up today.

I haven't seen many like it and I'm looking forward to shooting it tomorrow, weather permitting.

Paid $400 which seemed to be a really good price to me.

I have a few .22 S&Ws. Economical to shoot, compared to the centerfires, and a lot of fun:

First is a Model 48-2:

Next, a Model 41:

A couple of 17s and an 18:

A Model 22/32:

A Model 34 Kit Gun:

And finally, a Model 317:

Although I follow this thread from the start, being a .22lr nut, it just occurred to me that I did not post pictures myself!

My Model 34 Flatlatch with Tyler's T-grip:

The now-gone 617:

617 accuracy-img_0370-knipklein-jpg

Again,with Diamond stocks fitted:
(I kept the stocks for my not-yet-in-the-house Model 18-2)

Show me your Model 34 in 4" please?-img_0278-15-knip-jpg
