Default Bright Blue versus Standard Blue finish

Does anyone have photos of Pre-25s or Pre-26s (etc.) that clearly show the difference between a factory Bright Blue finish as opposed to the standard finish? i.e. does anyone have one or more photos that show both types of guns in the same photo?

Thank You.

I don't have photos of the guns you're interested in, but standard blue looks like the blue on a M/28 Highway Patrolman and bright blue looks like the blue on a M/27 or M/29.

Maybe these pics will help.

Here's a M-1950 .45 Target in bright blue. It actually shipped in 1950.

Now the satin-finish on the same model (this one's a 1954 gun).

From the SCS&W, the Highway Patrolman / M28 are described as having a "satin blue" finish. The .357 / M27 has a finish simply described as "blue". From this, I infer that the standard blue was pretty darn nice back in the day and that quite obviously satin blue was not as bright. Perhaps folks coined the term "bright blue" to emphasize the difference.

Critical in the quality and beauty of the finish is the level of polishing and how skillfully it is done. Certainly, the M27 and its forerunners were lavishly polished. This is one of the corners that was cut to reduce the price of the HP / M28. This more meager level of polishing doubtless caused the end result to be a lesser quality finish, no matter how it was blued.
