38/44 Outdoorsman for $495???
I've seen(maybe you have too ) a post war S serial numbered Outdoorsman going for 495. Not up close and personal, but pictures of it, described as very good to exc condition. No rust, great blueing. Broken hammer spur.Is this a good deal? So so deal?

Don't know if it's good or not, but I'd buy it. (And, I haven't even seen the pics, just going by your description...)
I saw a pre-war Outdoorsman at my local gunshop about a year and a half ago, and they wanted around $550 for it. It was not in mint condition - but it wasn't horrible either. Bad enough to be a "shooter" without much worry about the finish from handling, etc. Wish I'd have bought it. Its the only Outdoorsman I've gotten to handle and the only one I've seen in my area... Wish I'd have bought it now.

I saw one at the last gunshow I went to.It was LNIB for about $1200.00.I want one bad but that price is out of my league right now.One in real good shape for less than $500.00 I would jump on it in a minute.

So add in the cost of a postwar N-frame hammer. It's still a deal. And if you can't find the hammer until several weeks after you buy the gun, get practice shooting a heavy gun DA. You never know when that skill might come in handy.
Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Hi:
Normally the hammer spurs are bent or broken off due to dropping the weapon.

If all you have to do is replace the hammer - that price is a steal for the gun as described. Let us know what happens.

Jerry

38/44 Pre model number
I have this gun, bought it two years ago for $295.00 a solid 90% condition
sounds good right ?
One problem though, hammer spur gone, been trying to find a hammer for two years now.
Jack First in South Dakota told me if they had one it would be over $200.00
So make sure you know that if you buy one with a broken hammer.
The gun does shoot very, very well in DA however.
Great trigger, not so light but very smooth.
