If you like the gun and its mechanically sound plus added sentimental value as first carry gun- buy it. Super great deals are nice but not frequent.
You may also check this forum and other popular auction sites for value comparisons.

You didn't get hurt on that deal. That will be a very nice gun to have.

4runner, I predict you will love it. I have always wanted a three-inch Chiefs Special, and I found a 36-1 last Spring. I paid the same as you. I had Ray from LoboGunLeather make the flap holster, added a Tyler-t grip, and got the box and papers from another member. I carry the little shooter on the farm in the flap holster without worrying about getting it beat up. I load it with wadcutters over 4.6 grains Unique for general use, and keep a CCI snake load first up in the cylinder during snake season.

4runner - I too think you'll be pleased. Mine is a round butt, just today I passed on a square butt version which I would like to add to the collection, it wasn't shot much but had a fair amount of bluing wear. Theres something about a 3" J frame! Be sure to post a pic when you get it.

I could've done without the picture of the snake! (SHIVERS) At least it's a GOOD snake.

I still have my round butt M36-1... "heavy barrel" but not too heavy. Still have the Bianchi iwb holster. I was thinner then & could carry it (banna grips & all) under a light shirt.
