Refinishing Grips?
Searched but didn't find much.
Wondering what tricks everyone uses to refinish grips where the gloss (lacquer?) finish is chipped and worn.

Welcome to the Forum.
Soaking them in Acetone will safely strip them to the bare wood.
Take care of blemishes at that time and then finish them to your desired taste.

Aha! Acetone. That's what I was needing to know. The rest is gravy.

Welcome to the Forum tcary!
If you are refering to the acetone on the medallion, it's not an issue - it will not harm them.
(note ***early 1950's factory grips had a plastic medallion for a year or so - don't put these in acetone)

Or, you could just send em' to big Mike(VM) and take the worry out of it.

I've done rifle stocks and once stripped, denatured alcohol helps to raise the grain.

excellent advice!
I have a total of three sets of grips / stocks touched by Mike (VM).
His turn around time is very quick, and his prices are very reasonable.
