i have inherited a s&w pistol with 4in barrel no model # serial #is 344xxx any help also its a 38 special

on frame inside cyl is the #5705 with an H above it and a 3 under it

Welcome to the forum, is it blue or nickel? Does it have adjustable sights or are they fixed? The absence of a model number inside the crane (where the cylinder closes on) means it is pretty old. Pictures will help. Look on the bottom of the metal grip and the serial number will be there. Give us the letters and number, use XX for the last two numbers and someone here can figure out Manufacture date (or close to it).

Serial is here. Letters are part of the number if present.

it used to be blued with fixed sights the serial #is c 3447, also the c is on front of the frame and the # are on rear like this c 3447xx

about 7 to 8 spaces between c and the 3447

It's a M&P (Military and Police) 38 special.
There is suppose to be a space between the "C" and the remainder of the serial number.

If it is C 3447 it is 1948
If it is C 3447XX it is 1954-56

Your post #6 says "it use to be blued"..........don't know what that means and we don't know condition, what type of grips, or anything.
Guestimate on value $100-$300.....w/o out knowing condition - that's poor/fair to decent/good
