Default My Grail gun...

...is gonna be kinda hard to find.

As a new first-time S&W owner, I've been perusing the forum & seems like most people have a "grail gun."

Since I came by my 28-2 after two different M19 deals got away, I decided a birth year (1955) M19 wiould be nice.

YIKES! The first source said the M19 was first produced in '55. Well... might have to pay a bit more...

What's this? Another source said first produced in '59. That would make my grail gun VERY rare indeed...

A third quoted '54 as first year...

I guess I need to go buy the SCSW...

EDIT: FWIW I'll go with the '55 quoted in the Ultimate M19 thread. Guess I'm gonna have to look hard & bring $$$...

There is a 1956 Combat Magnum listed in the forum classifieds for $1750. All it takes is $$$$$$$$$$.

EARLY Combat Magnum- PRE 19 #35

handejector states, "Roy tells us in his book that the first production gun, #260003, was finished Nov 15, 55."

It seems like finding a 1955 Pre-19 will be nearly impossible, but 1956 Pre-19s turn up from time to time. Good luck!
