Mainly pre 27s except for one Model 27. I no longer own all of them but I still have most of them. All 3.5" guns, and they letter just as you see them.

...first accquisition (today) from the Michigan Anitque Arms Collectors' show. It has a target trigger, stocks and hammer. The nickel plating looks to be "a foot deep", has the original owner's manual, sales literature, display case, and cleaning kit.

It begged me until I took it home!

Here’s another one. I tend to doubt if the box is correct or not as it does seem pretty late for them to be using gold boxes, but it’s what came with the gun when I got it from another one of our Forum members It probably should be in one of the blue boxes I suspect.

It is a Model 27-1 357 Magnum with a 6” barrel. This particular gun shipped to M&H Sporting Goods in Philadelphia in June 1962.

It has all the target options, that is, TH, TT, checkered walnut target grips, RR front sight and WO rear sight. According to the letter from Roy Jinks, all these “target” items were on this gun when shipped.

The “dash 1’s” (as has been told by another Forum member who collects 29-1’s) are normally marked on the rear of the cylinder with an “L” indicating left hand threads on the extractor rod, as this one is.

...Saturday, I bought a second one on Sunday at the same show. This one, pictured with the 4" nickel one, is a 6.5" barrrel, original numbered stocks, box, etc.

I picked this up the other day.

Then the same week I got this one.

My latest last week is a NIB 3.5" 27-2 that came with wood box with all, and even the cardboard shipping box. It is the most pristine, beautifully finished smith I have. Gorgeous. I will have to take some pics this weekend. I have definitely succumbed to the 27 sickness.

I've only got one and it was shipped to Fairbanks, AK March 16, 1979. How it got down here to Kansas in as new condition I'll never know. I bought it about 4 years ago. It has a concave shaped white dot front patridge sight. I asked about that in my factory letter request but Roy didn't make any comment one way or the other. I put a set of Keith Brown magnas on it as the factory targets are too big for my hands. It's in my old George Lawrence rig. Think I'll take it on a mountain lion hunt next year.

I have a model 27 no dash that I bought used in 1968 for $150. The gun was made in 1957 and has the 8-3/8 inch barrel. I have used it as an occasional range gun for 42 years and it is still my most accurate shooter in .357 magnum. The trigger feel is superlative, and the gun retains much of its high gloss blue finish. I put Ahrends grips on it, which seem more comfortable than the original grips.

I only have 3 M27's so far.

Top one is a pre M27 and the bottom one is a M27 no dash

This one's a 5 digit S/N pre M27 with a 5" barrel. Stocks number to the gun. Since this picture I've put on a nice set of non-relieved targets.

What did the KB stocks cost, if I may ask?

And what are the bullets in the ammo? They look longer than usual.

The KB grips cost $265, I saved up quite a while to get them.

The bullets are the classic Keith from Lyman mould 358439. 358439 is the hollow point designation for the 358429 solid nose mould. They are too long in Magnum cases to work in a M27 so you have to load them in 38 special cases. That's the way Elmer started out with these as there were no 357's when he designed the bullet for use in SAA's and HD or Outdoorsmans.

The 27 is why I am a S&W "collector" (accumulator). Besides the Model 10 M&P to me they are they defining revolver of the 20th century.

I'm guessing some picture taking is in my future. I have my Dad's pre-27. It originally came with two sets of grips. As I was going through a cigar box of old gun stuff I found a set of N-frame grips with s/n stamped in them. It turns out Dad never tossed anything, they were the small originals to the gun.

I want a 27 with the 8 3/8" barrel, but I want a red ramp rather than a partridge sight. I've only seen 1 like that. Does anybody know when the red ramp was available on this revolver? Thanks

You guys have some gorgeous .357's , congrats to everyone of you and thanks for sharing. Really fantastic revolvers.

Funny, I remember being told back in the 1980's that the N fame is much too big for the 357 cartridge.... I'm glad I finally woke up, but boy it took me way too long..... With the right grips and that famous action, S&W's .357 N frames really are special, no wonder the "old timers" really liked them back in the day.

First, here is an old family .357 Magnum that I am very grateful to have inherited. No box or whatnot, just the gun, and the original grips and Tyler T are in the safe. I believe these (old school, refinished cherrywood) Fitz grips will stay on this revolver. The design of these grips is from the right time frame - and as a bonus they do wonders for the recoil and accuracy. Serial number is S103XXX. I wish I had some hardcast Skeeter or Keith loads ready for this, but (the reduced power) Winchester Silvertips are my carry load anyway. This .357 definitely will keep a smile on my face.

And here is an eight shooter .357 Magnum, it cost less than a popular 1911 I was looking at, and this piece was simply much too good to pass up. I hope to eventually add a good gold bead up front on this.

I'd like more of the 3 1/2"ers, but this is more than I had back in the 1980's.....
