Don't think I posted this, a Victoria Police trade in Model 10-11. Little newer than most, but hey still a model 10.

Default My Humble Contribution

Found this one today at the gun show. I just had to rescue it. Probably will pass it on to another collector, but I had to save it from becoming a truck or sock drawer gun.

1964-65 10-5 2".

I'd quit looking for a nice K snub.
Then this one fell into my lap.
It appeared to be virgin when I bought it.
It's not virgin, anymore.
Ran about 50 rounds through it.
I like it.
I still can't believe it's mine.
I don't usually find any this nice.
Not that I can afford, anyway

Looks much better in person.
Pics were taken with an iPhone 4S with a dirty lens.

I also have an UGLY 10-6.
Don't have pics of it, yet.

Serial number S 852280.

The "S" series K frames where manufactured between 1945 to 1948 and are considered Post War M&P's.

That serial number is most likely 1946.

I own 2, S857xxx and S869xxx, a tad later than yours, but not much. There's a lot of information about them here on the forum if you search for it.

There's a member here, JP@AK, who is compiling a data base on the "S" series K frames, to track the changes between WWII and 1950 where the design became what is referred to as the "Pre Model 10".

Love to see some pictures.

Default Peruvian Federal Police

This is my sole Model 10-7. Made for Peruvian Federal Police, but sold to the public here through various distributors.

Thanks for the reply, I got a PM from Jack and answered it not too long ago. I also have a 32.20 hand ejector third change I should put on their thread as soon as I figure out how to post pictures. It shouldn't take me too long to get it done. I only have one other, a 10-7 I got from a hawk shop a while back. They all shoot great.

I guess I'm not as dumb as they give me credit for. I think I figured out how to post pictures all by myself. This is the premodel 10 shipped Nov 1946 according to Jack.

Default Model 10 Thread

This is the only Model 10 (10-6) currently in my collection and is my newest acquisition. I believe it is circa 1973 and came with the box, owners manual, and cleaning rod/brush, plus a S&W ammo brochure. I shot it today for the first time, having just taken delivery of the Tyler T-Grip Adapter a couple of days ago. My 10-6 shoots as good as it looks.

I see this thread is still alive, there are some great pictures. I carried a nickel 10 HB back in the late 70's on the sheriffs dept. I haven't had one in years and found a nice 10-10 HB RB yesterday. I'll try and post some pictures. Thanks for sharing your treasures,

That is one totally unique Model 10 variation! Never laid eyes on one of these before. Love to have it.

Any further details, or model history?

Those 10-10s were a special run for Brazil...supposedly 50 were sold in the States.

It seems that no one knows for sure how many were part of the overrun, and I don't know if any were ever imported back into the country.

Ok I'll play. Just a regular old 10-5. 66-67 era.

I only have one model 10. It's a 1981 10-8. It came with the original box and papers.

Thanks for the reply. I would suggest that even if it has been used as a shooter in the past, it will shortly be transitioning into "investment grade" - due to the underlug enclosed ejector rod - if for no other reason.

Same thing has happened to the "underlug enclosed ejector rod" equipped Mod 65 "Ladysmith" revolvers.

BTW, is that red front sight insert factory?

10-5, well worn but nice mechanically. I've stripped it down, cleaned all the action parts, replaced the screws with allen head screws, polished them and then relubed it before reassembling it.

I'll probably bob the hammer since it's already DAO and then have it refininshed. The only question is blue or parkerized.

I don't know. It was there when I got it, but I'm not the original owner.
I'm actually looking to trade it in the classifieds, but people offer less than what a standard Model 10 3" is going for. And I even have the box for it.
Go figure.

Default 10-5

I picked up this model 10-5 yesterday. It cleaned up pretty good, most of the small rust spots came off with fine steel wool. The barrel is clean and shiny but the cylinder is pretty scratched up. It looks like it was dropped on concete or rode around in a glovebox for a lot of years.

That brass Tyler looks perfect on your 10. Make a perfect IWB carry. I would go ahead and bob the hammer and leave her finish alone (she has earned the character) Beautiful in her own right.

If you get the chance to get it, jump on it.
There's nothing like a K frame.
There's really nothing like a K frame snub.

BTW, Linda has great taste in revolvers.

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and would like some help in identifying a Model 10 I have passed down to me from my dad. Have no idea where to start. The butt strap has 994839 and a lanyard strap , the frame with cylinder open has 503 s. Most the S&W emblem is worn off, it has defiantly been used. I have taken it shooting twice in the 25 years I've had it, last weekend ran 50 rounds through it and it was a blast to shoot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Serial number S 852280.
Likely December 1946. I have one in my listing having a slightly lower SN which shipped in late November 1946.

It would be a very late pre-Victory model M&P, shipped ca. late May 1942. You didn't give the caliber, but I would guess it to be .38 S&W from the barrel length. If so, it is a .38/200 British Service Revolver made for the British Commonwealth during WWII. Yours was made 15 years before the Model 10 appeared (1957). Provide some better detail of all markings, and you'll probably get a better answer. The grips are not original, and I am not sure about the finish. Indications are that it has been re-finished. Will .38 Special cartridges chamber completely?

Thanks for the info. Yes, it is stamped 38 S&W CTG on the barrel. Here is a little more history on the piece: My dad was in the Navy in WWII on a ship that patched up ships in the south pacific. When the war ended, Marines were catching any ship they could to get back to the states. My dad bought this from a Marine who was hitching a ride on his ship, who states he got it off a dead Japanese solider. Since this is not a Japanese issue sidearm, I imagine he got it from a fallen allied solider.

My Model 10-7 passed down to me from my Grandfather. It's in beautiful condition and the blueing is nearly flawless. I'm thankful to have this one.

Default suprised

No Pic but a good story. Once I knew a LAPD cop that could shoot his Model 10 so well I was shocked a little. We put paper plates on the side of a steep hill about 10 to 15 yards. I would call out one or two as he was walking past them. He would turn draw and fire at the ones I yelled out hitting most near center. All double action. I was impressed to say the least.

Here are my two Model 10's. A five-inch 10-5 and a four inch 10-6. I found both within two weeks of each other. The 10-5 at a local gun show and the 10-6 at my favorite LGS. Both sets of stocks number to the guns. You would think the 10-5 would have the Diamond Magnas?

10-7 5D163xx

1979 ship date.
I recently learned the 10-7 was the pencil barrel.
10-8 was the bull barrel.
Both produced simultaneously.
