Just wanted to show off this vintage Eubanks holster on the Lawrence
cartridge belt holding my 4" model 10. The knife is a Marbles Damascus.
2nd from left is the 4" in an old Heiser FBI holster. It was before model
numbers but identical to the #457. Has the elongated triple H mark.
Probably the best gun to holster fit I have ever seen. Like the gun was
melted and poured into the holster.
3rd from left is the 4" in the famous Hank Sloan with adjustable welt by
Bucheimer.
4th from left is the 2" in a Lewis Police crossdraw, like Joe Friday
carried his 2" in Dragnet.
5th from left is the 2" in the venerable Bianchi 5B. I read an article
that said Bianchi furnished holsters and belts to Federal Agents
back in the 1970s. I asked John and he told me it was the 5B.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think your model 10 is a good looking example of a much carried weapon

The Ultimate Model 10 Thread!
My relatively new (to me) nickel 10-7 is now sporting some Grashorns. Very impressed with the feel and look. This is my first M10 but will NOT be the last!

I suppose you'd have to see it in person. Good deal of surface rust, but no pitting I can find. Lots of finish wear, import marked. I wish I knew where it was from, the finish wear reminds me a ton of the various South American trade ins I've seen.

What a thread -- more than seven years old. I read every page. Some "old-standard" screen names, but more who have been lost to the hour glass. Where have they gone?
Here's my contribution, humble as it is compared to some.
Victory 4", shipped to Navy Norfolk December 15, 1943.
Postwar M&P 5", shipped December 1946.
Model 10-5 2", shipped February 23, 1967.
Slàinte,
Bob

My 10-6 over 10-8. Both mechanically superior and get a lot of my practice, dry and live fire.

10-5 Round Butt
An old new 10-5 rb to add to my collection. Serial number is D11909x, looks like sometime in 1969 my birth year! Nice ampersands on right side and barrel.

OK, I'll play. Kind of embarrassing now though.
Started out a 10-5 from Century Arms, delivered to my door for $127.00. It was 1992, I had a FFL, extra money and extra time. I got all the parts from Brownells, (as well as all the tools I soon found out I needed.) I made my own frame support for a vice, took the barrel off and went to town on the inside. I sure learned a lot, and found out how to do a superb trigger job on S&W revolvers.
I sent all of the disassembled parts out for hard chroming, then fit the barrel and put it back together. It has thousands of rounds through it now, and is still perfect, although very dated.

My newest member of the S&W family. A 10-8 police trade in serial# AHU2*** has lots of character but mechanically very little use. Nice tight lockup. Anyone have an idea of it's shipping date? The 3x4 serial numbers tells me early-mid 80's.

Model 10
Picked this pretty clean old 5 screw up from a local individual a couple of months ago. Belonged to his grandfather and he had no interest in it or desire to pass it on as an heirloom.

Might as well add this one to it. A four screw, Model 10-2 I picked up this week. It looked really rough in the case at the dealer's, but a couple of rounds with some Flitz, and a couple of coats of Ren Wax, and it at least looks presentable.
It came with a set of WELL worn mismatched diamond magna's that didn't number to the gun. The right side checkering was almost gone. I took them off and put them away, and put these aftermarket (Thai?) set I had around on. I later took them off and put a Hogue Monogrip on.

New grips
Here's my favorite 10-5 and my daily carry gun. Born during my birth year 1969 with a slightly broke in set of nos diamonds on it...I know some will say they aren't correct but man do they look pretty!

10-5 that I inherited from my FIL. It has the box and papers but, no cleaning rod.
He purchased this revolver, at my suggestion, from York Arms in Memphis, TN. York Arms, at that time, was "the place" where most folks in the mid South came to outfit themselves before serious hunts out West and to the dark continent.

I gave my 10-5 2" a makeover. Shown with it's
new Grasshorns and with it's mate the Puma Prince knife.
The holster is a Lawrence Special Agent pigskin with the
"dog ear".

Here's a model of 1899 with a four digit serial number. The great-great grandpaw of every model 10. Not much finish left on it after almost 120 years, but it'll still shoot pretty well.

My 10-5
Original photo and with new target grips.
I had purchased a Glock 21 a couple years back and just never liked it. Took it to my local shop & put it up for sale. A week later, the shop called and told me to come pick up my check. While I was waiting for the check, another employee put this Model 10 in the display case. When the shop owner gave me the check, I handed it back and said "I'll take that instead!"

I, too, bought one of the Bud’s French LE turn-in’s. This was a mini project for me and a Christmas present for a dear female friend. I like it so much, I ordered one, yesterday, for myself.

1974 10-6
Ugly duckling holster wear but very few rounds through it. Fantastic "Smith" trigger and still a tack driver. 1974 10-6. Original grips in storage with larger Altamont rosewood grips for comfortable shooting.

I have posted these elsewhere, but I don't think I've posted them on this thread. Matching 10-8s, both shipped in May of 1982, I used them as training guns for years, they have tens of thousands of rounds through them. Which only smoothed up the actions.
Best Regards, Les

My love of the Model 10 started when I met Fox4506. He gave me his own Model 10 and taught me how to shoot with it. I always loved that gun and wanted one of my own, so imagine my surprise when I opened this special gift from Fox! Not just any Model 10, but one that he completely refinished especially for me! An old police trade in brought back to life...a classic...shoots like a dream! Thank you, Fox. I think it's a masterpiece!

Posted this elsewhere before, but figured I'd add it to the Model 10 thread. I've owned this highly modified Model 10 for a couple decades. It is a Bill Davis Custom competition pistol, and I found it at a local gun store. They really wanted to move it, as they didn't like the looks, or the fact it was so modified.
On the other hand I was very attracted to the quality of the rework, and the trigger feel in both SA and DA modes. It's the smoothest action of any S&W I've ever owned. I wondered if the extremely light DA trigger pull would even be reliable when I first felt it. But it's never had a misfire in 25 years!
Even back in the 1990's $250 was a real bargain I thought.
