I recently purchased a 1971 or so Model 37 square butt in mint, possibly unfired, condition. It came in a period correct box, missing label, with papers and a pack of tools. I thought that it was odd that the tools / brush includes a sight adjustment tool. The sights on a M37 Snub are fixed.
It is possible that the box, paperwork and cleaning tool are original...but I did not assume them to be original. Only paid $325.00 for the whole package and no representation was made regarding whether all of the collateral stuff was original to the gun.
In fact, I sort of assumed that all or a portion of the package was cobbled together because of the inclusion of a sight adjustment tool. What are your thoughts? I am sure it happened once in awhile, but did S&W frequently include a sight tool with fixed sight revolvers? What are your observations?
