Default Vintage Model 38 info and pics

This Model 38 was my fathers. I used to shoot it when i was a kid. Today I took it out and disassembled it for cleaning and managed to take a few pictures.

Serial is J578xxx

Airweight .38 special CTG

I am not sure the age but I am guessing it was new in late 60's early 70's

I see many newer guns but I have seen very little refrence to this gun in stainless with hidden hammer and 1 7/8 barrell

Overall condition is near mint probably only had 100 rounds through it.

Can any of the experts add any info? Is this a rare item in stainless? Value?

I also have a few boxes of .38 norma nickel semi jacketed hollowpoints as shown in pics..

Thanks in advance

Model 38s are not that uncommon. It has to be nickel plated as they were not made in stainless. You are off on the manufacturing date, it was made in 1977. HTH

What's with the ebay links? You here to discuss S&Ws or sell watches?

bell8769,
As you can see, I've edited your links out above. If you can post via another - neutral - photo hosting site we'd appreciate that.
If you cannot, feel free to PM me and we can sort out how to get your photos put up with an email exchange.

Thank you!

P.S. As noted above, your revolver is a Nickel finished M38 judging from the pics, likely factory original, neat gun.
