Welcome! We need the information from the bottom of the grip frame for a specific answer (C or D followed by up to 6 digits), but these were produced from 1962 to '77.

My 10-6 was a 1974 model. Post more info as to the serial number and someone will nail it down.

Looking for Mod 36 MFG Date/ship Date???
Hi - I'm new - sorta anyway - I've been on forum before but just signed up.
I'm looking to get an idea when my Mod 36 was MFG.
It is a 2" has MOD 36 on the frame and close to 37372 which is on the crane and on the bottom of the square butt.
Best I can remember I bought it used between 1975 & 1980 in the real NE Northern California a hop and skip away from Oregon. This was back when you could buy a gun easy and open carry with no issue - yes a long long time ago!!!!!!! I don't think it was used much but I sure shot it a lot then.
Any idea is much appreciated.
Thanks - LBM

In order to help you folks, we are going to need the serial number off the butt of the revolvers to include starting letter(s) if there are any. You can drop the last two digits if you like and just mark them as XX.
Then we can give you a production period for the Model 10-6 and also for the owner of the Model 36. The number on the crane could be a part number vs. a serial number.

Welcome to you too .
Please have a look at this post, particularly the location of the serial number on your model 36, and we can let you know more information.

Thanks - in my case the 37372 number I provided is the complete serial number and is in both places - on the crane and on the bottom of the square butt. That is all there is for a number - no letters. I think it may be 3737 and the 2 may mean 2ed gen or something since I have see the same J mod 36 refered to as a -1, -2 or -3. I did try to make it clear.

I did look it over and may have confused the issue by thinking it might be a -2.
There is no slash anywhere, no letters anywhere on either location where the obvious serial number is located.
MOD 36 is very clearly stamped on the frame when you open the cyl and if you look down to the crane you very clearly see the 37372 stamped on the crane very close to the frame- there is another partial number stamped that clearly is a part number tat is not part of the serial number. When you tip up the pistol to look at the very bottom of the square frame (not rounded) you can very clearly see the same 37372 number. That is the complete serial number.
Best I can do in explaining except to refer to the year time frame I bought it in and that it was sold as a used gun not a new gun. I thought that might help since I understand MFG dates are hard to find and that it probably will be a left the factory sold date.
Thanks again.

I am new to this forum. I am interested in knowing more about the model 19-04 that was willed to me by my brother in law who passed from throat cancer. It has had a bit of use over its lifetime, but because of the family connection I would like to refurbish it to original condition. Its nickel finish is quite worn, but other than that it appears serviceable. Any assistance in identifying its production date or any other specifics to this weapon would be greatly appreciated.

Your Model 36 is a rather early one prior to adding a J prefix to the serial number. Serial number 37372 would equate to about 1954 as the manufacture date to the best I can determine.

37372 would have been well before your gun would have been stamped MOD 36. There may be a letter and or number in front? Those would be part of the full SN. Photos are often helpful as well .

Dense - Just Plain Dense!!!
OK - I'm blind & cain't see out of the other, particularly Dense at times also!!!!!!!!!!!
I was completely sucked in by seeing the 37372 in both places and my big old thumb was in the way. The 37372 definitely is the frame part number located on the bottom of the frame by the bottom grip panel pin. I only had to take off the Pachmyer grips off about a dozen times before I saw the light!
MOD 36 on the Frame just above where the crane fits into the frame and "J609117" on the very bottom of the square frame.
"J609117"
You shocked me into awareness when it looked like I had been blasting away with a gun almost as old as I am - shooting it hard and putting it away wet just like some old Horse!!!!!!
So - My apologies to everyone and thanks again for the help.
If I was still a drinking Man I'd blame it on Demon Rum! DUH!!!!
Thanks again.

Great - thank you- MFG Date is pretty close to when I bought it - in that area any way - so maybe (probably) my thinking I bought it used was a shady bit off too!

Yes, the "side" and "bottom" of the grip frame are two different spots .
