Does it have a "roller bearing action?"
I have a buddy with one of these guns done by Mr. Davis, and it is a tack driver to say the least! I've lusted after it!
There have been some good threads on him, but likely were too old and got deleted a year or so ago. I just can't remember what they said- someone will be along that knows the low down.

I am not sure if it has a roller bearing action but it sure is smooth, barrel has a slide on the front sight that says 7, 25 and 50 yards

Sounds like it's one of the barrels put on a Model 10 to be used for PPC (Police Pistol Combat) competitions. The adjustable front sight allows for a center-hold (or wherever you have it adjusted) at those three distances, the three distances used in PPC. The actions of these Model 10s would be worked on to give a very smooth double-action trigger pull, since DA shooting is called for in most of PPC's course of fire, although at 50 yards the shooter may use single-action. Perhaps even a rubber trigger-stop might be installed in the trigger to give the DA trigger a staging effect--pull the trigger through to the rubber stop, and then squeeze it a bit more to get the hammer to fall, sort of like a single-action trigger pull.

You're right about the Bill Davis PPC revolvers being tack drivers. They, those built by Ron Power, Travis Strahan and Jim Clark, SR ruled the roost back in the "OLD DAYS"!
A side note:
Bill Davis, himself, was not only a great gun builder but also a great shooter AND a gentleman! During the National Police competitions in Jackson, MS a range officer failed to note that Bill had not gotten off his last shot during one of the individual matches. Bill's personal integrity was so great that he pointed it out to the range officer and that ten (10) points actually cost him that year's individual national championship trophy!

PPC guns are kind of a niche market so putting a value on one is difficult and would vary by region. If you are wanting to sell it, I would suggest finding a PPC club and show it there, as those guys would know exactly what a Bill Davis gun is. Davis was one of the top PPC gunsmith's so you have quite a gun there. Your gun is probably a more recent gun than alot of the used PPC guns if it has the slab side barrel and Aristocrat rib. Alot of the earlier guns sported the heavy round barrels with the Bomar ribs. Check out the guns listed on Gunbroker, but I doubt you will find many Bill Davis guns as people tend to hang on to the ones made by the master pistolsmith's.

I'M HAVE HAD LOTS OF EXPERIENCE WITH DAVIS PPC REVOLVERS. PUT UP A PIC AND I'LL TELL YOU WHAT YOU HAVE. WHAT GRADE AND SUCH. I TALKED TO BILL DAVIS AT THE SHOT SHOW THIS YEAR WITH PHILIP HEMPHILL(10 TIME NATIONAL PPC CHAMP). BILL WAS A FEISTY OLD GUY, HE WAS A REAL HOOT. JIM P

Bill was one of my Dad's closest friends when my father still lived in California. Built all but one of my Dad's PPC guns, including one or two funky short-barreled PPC style revolvers. I'll have to start a thread showing my Dad's Davis guns.
Bill is a truly nice guy. Let me work in his shop for a summer when I was about 12, and built me a custom S&W J-Frame for my birthday (Model 34 frame mated with a Colt Woodsman heavy match barrel...very cool but was eventually stolen during a home burglary).

I've seen a colt trooper made up into a PPC revolver. DA action only and asking price was $750. Don't know if it ever sold at that price though. Did have the aristocrat sights. Not much call down here in Louisiana for these although Clark's guns here in LA does still make them. If I remember they suggest using a model 10 as the base gun. Frank
