Default Model 58 manufacture date

The serial number is 235xxx.

What would be the approximate year this revolver was made?

Thanks.

Not a "real expert", but the SCSW indicates N prefix serial numbers 190001 - 430000 (including the M58) were produced 1975 - 1977...

BTRH, you didn't need to delete your first post. You were right, SCSW does indicate original M58 production began at S256500 as you said...and the range then continued on through to S260623.

The N prefix then replaced the S prefix for all N-Frames, including the M58...until the it's demise in 1977. Have a look on pg. 294, you'll find the range(s) for all the S and N serial numbers, including the 1975 (190001) to 1977 (430000) range I quoted Greg for his "235xxx" M58 .

You're right about the M58 being an excellent revolver as well ...
