That price sounds a little high without box, tools or papers and with rust. Try one of the big auction sites like Gunbroker.Com. You should be able to get one in excellent condition for that amount.

I'm not sure where in the country you're located, but there's a reason that 29-2 has been in the shop that long...it's way too pricey for a 6" with no goodies. Even though the 6" models are more rare than the 6-1/2" models (like Dirty Harry's), the 6-1/2"s generally command a higher price. I picked up a 98% 6" 29-2 last fall at a local gun show for $500- I admit it was a good deal, but there are a lot of 29-2s out there for sale. I even passed on a 6-1/2" S s/n for $625. I'd keep looking unless your shop owner will drop the price $150 or so.

A dealer here in town has had a 4 inch 29-2 in the mahogany case with everything LNIB for sale for $995. He says it is on consignment and won't come down, but he's had it for a couple months and has hauled it to a least 3 gunshows............ market may be cooling a little.

Talking

you are making the right choice as that's way to much for a 6 inch 29-2 with no accessories and rust on it.
