Default Seemed like a simple question...

Maybe I asked this question in the wrong place. It seemed like a lounge question I'm Sending for a Letter

I'm getting the aircewman lettered. What kind of photos should I include in my letter request to Roy Jinks?

Thanks

I've never sent for a letter but if I did I would send pics of the whole gun(both sides) and close ups of any markings. Pretty simple answer.

I've sent for many letters and I don't always include photos, unless either the pistol is rare or it has some modification or is a transitional gun. I have taken pictures of both sides of the gun for starters. I have a 38/44 that had an after market front sight, so I took a picture of that. I have a 38 M&P that had a King sight modification, so pictures of that went with that pistol letter. I have a 58 that has a Mag-Na-Port barrel, pics included with that. I also have a 38 Reg Police that is a transitional model, with a 5 screw I frame and the coil spring hammer spring of a Improved I Frame. Many photos of that pistol went to Roy for a letter.

I hope this information is helpful in some way.

Good morning. For an Aircrewman specifically, the top- and backstrap stampings, close-ups of the serial numbers (bottom of grip frame, rear cylinder face, barrel flat above ejector rod if present) and barrel stampings would all be important. There are many counterfeits out there, and even with all these photos he may only be able to tell you the frame was originally from an M13. Hope this is helpful.

I appreciate the input. From what I've heard, He only verifies the serial number and not the gun itself. I'll still include the detailed pics. Thanks.

It used to take up to three months to get a factory letter back. The ones I have sent for over the last few years have taken a month from the day I sent it to the day it ended up in my mailbox.
