Default Model 14 Range Report

I went to the range the other evening and was having a bit of relaxing range fun. Out of nowhere I shot one of the best groups ever with my model 14-4.

The group on the left is typical for me at 25 feet, good but not great. the group on the right however just happened. Everything just fell into place.

I guess it's true that even a blind squirrel can occasionally find a nut.

Talking

They are very accurate revolvers and the group on the right is what I'd expect when shooting from a rest. Great group and a beautiful revolver.

I think my 14 is my favorite. At least it makes me look the best, but never that good. Those grips on your are fabulous, are they original?
(Kind of ironic that someone named "357" sings the praises of the lowly .38)

Inquiring minds want to know about those grips....

Fabulous shooting, by the way.

The grips are not original to the gun, I'm not even sure they are real S&W cocobola grips, they might be, they might not be.

As for the lowly .38, There was a time when I was into big boomers with massive recoil, but anymore I'm completely satisfied with my .38 wheelguns and .22lr rifles. I only go big when the game I'm hunting requires it for a clean ethical kill.

I bought the grips a year or so ago on ebay, they were a little rough so I refinished them, I know the purists will hate the high gloss oil finish, but it's my gun not theirs. I also had David Newcomb make a custom holster for the gun. In all those thread that ask "if you could have just one?" my Model 14 is the one.
