Sometimes it pays... or, Even a blind squirrel...
Sometimes it pays to go to the small shows. I went to a small show in Broken Arrow, Ok. I met a man who was carrying an 8 lb. jug of Universal Clays powder, still sealed. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said, "75 bucks." Before I could say I'll take it, he said "And I have another one in the truck." So now I have a lifetime supply of powder, because I was already well stocked and didn't really need it, but who in their right mind would pass on that?
Anyway, the main subject of this thread is the tapered barrel model 64 that this gentleman brought in. I asked him what he was selling and he said he had a stainless model 10. Again, . I graciously explained that it had to be nickeled or had been hard chromed, and he said "Well, that's possible, it was dads. I didn't have much interest by this point and was about to walk away when he asked if I would be interested in it for $250? I almost tore an ACL trying to turn back around to tell him to pull it out of the case so I could look at it. He pulled it out and I handed him $250 before it could draw a crowd. As I was walking away, my buddy asks to see it, and then takes the zip tie that was holding the cylinder closed and says, "This isn't a model 10, it's a 64 no dash." It looked so good, I didn't even bother to open the cylinder (I know, duh, I'm an idiot.) Can anyone tell me what this is actually worth and perhaps a ship date or Dom? I would rate condition a conservative 98%.

Looks like a late 1972-early 1973 build date.
My guess, you could sell it and get at least double if not more versus what you paid. Nice score!

Very nice and probably the worth close to triple what you paid these days
I myself detest stainless, but even I would have jumped on that fast!
I can’t remember the last time I saw a K frame for sale at less than $400

It has a light powder burn ring around all 6 holes on the cylinder, but like maybe only shot 6 shots total. It'll have a lot more than that tonight! I'll let you know how she shoots.

They're pretty rare with the tapered barrel, I love it and think it would sell for $550-$600.

A LGS had an identical one recently, sporting an ugly set of Pachmayrs, for $599.
