red-dot sight mount for a model 28
Hello All!
Does anyone recommend a red-dot sight mount for a model 28?

I can recommend a Weigand mount for S&W's. If, as I suspect, the revolver is not drilled and tapped from the factory (they didn't start doing that until the early 90's) you will have to have it drilled and tapped. However, the good news is that the sight is removed, it is drilled and tapped under the sight. When and if the mount base is removed, the sight will hide the holes (I always fill the holes with blank screws).
There are those that will wail and gnash their teeth when you talk about drilling and tapping. However, if done in a professional manner (like the factory does) there should be little concern. My guns are working guns (not safe queens) and I expect them to "earn their keep". If that means mounting a sight that I can actually see and hit what I'm aiming at, that is what will happen...
YMMV

Steve;
Here is the mount I was suggesting:
Smith Wesson scope mount KLN frame
I have several different makes of Red Dot sights mounted on S&W revolvers and autos. The best value in a GOOD Red Dot sight is the Simmons 30mm with four reticules. Here they have them at a really good price:
Simmons ShotDot 1x30mm Red Dot Scope | Overstock.com
They come with rings, so after you have the Weigand rail installed, you are in business. Here's what the Simmons looks like on my 625-6:
Here is a Simmons on a "short" S&W (a Model 520):
