Default Got a Highway Patrolman

Picked this up today, 28-2, SN is N484XX, shot 2 cylinders at the gun shop all 12 hit inside an 8"circle at 25 yds so I guess it's a good enuf shooter...Grips number to the gun, little wear at the muzzle and a slight cylinder line, otherwise real nice and tight...
Here's the pics

I should add that when, and if, I ever grow up, I'm not so sure I want to be a photographer

I got $5.00 that says it won't be your last one or last N-frame.

That's a sucker bet. Nice gun Boox. Check that strain screw in front of the grip, looks like it could use a turn or two. Joe

It looks very good. Many of them have seen a lot more holster wear than that one.

Welcome to the Forum! You passed the initiation ritual with the posting of those fine photos of that Highway Patrolman. You'll find many fans of that model here. That's a particularly nice one. Enjoy!

Sweet and one of S&W's best. I'm a big fan of the model 28-2.

I want to thank you all for the kind remarks, and also a warning, I'm picking up a 10-5 2 inch tomorrow that's even nicer. So I guess I lost that bet already.
I find these revolvers interesting as my primary interest in handguns is semi autos, primarily 9 mm, have a Browning HP, S&W 39-2 and 3913 along with various .22 and 45 acp guns. My revolver interests have mostly been in larger single action calibers, I really like that sound of a big 45 Colt with a 265 grain flat nose gas checked bullet, but I have owned a Ruger security six and a Llama 357 in the past. This model 28 seems to be much more solid and way smoother than either of them. Time will tell, I'm sure.

I shot my new m58 in 41mag w/4" barrel for the first time I took six shots and was ready to marry it if it was a woman. It handled perfect. Now I have the 357's to shoot and tryout. The design of its balance to weight to power ratio is exactly spot on. S&W did this design before there was computers with CAD Systems. This was an engineer giving a craftsman the design on a napkin left over from lunch. This is how great designs were thought of. It's over 100 years old and still impresses me. The s&w k22, k38 & the N Frames are works of metal art. It's like a beautiful painting of a pretty lady.

I stopped at 8 of the 4" guns (and I have no plans for another) so they aren't that infectious,,, addicting maybe, but not infectious

azmick
How do you know you stopped? Like most addicts, we can never be certain we are finished. There will always be the one we walk by at a gun show and it starts calling us, "Hey, Sweetie! Come on over and buy me! I want to go home with you." And the next thing you know, you're putting number 9 in your safe.
So, don't BS a BSer. You don't know that you've stopped.

Excuse me now. I need to go into the gun room and stroke my 4" and 6" Highway Patrolman revolvers. All of them. I can hear them calling . . .

Sweet 28... And the addiction starts for yet another.

Not only will this not be your last N frame but probably not your last 28. While I can't compete with azmick......I'm at 8 and counting.... No end in sight just can't pass 1 up
