Default $ check on a 19-2...for a good reason!

And here it is... The father of my P.D. chaplain at work passed away about a year ago and left a few guns behind. (WWII vet...I was really hoping some of the guns I was going to check out were going to be bring-backs from europe!!) One of which is a 19-2 4" which he had used as a duty gun while working part time as a county reserve deputy.

I volunteered to sell the guns for'em, and here it is: Blued 4" model 19-2 with the older style stocks (You'll have to forgive me....I haven't been in to revolvers since I was in my 20's!), target hammer and trigger, red ramp/white outline rear. Ser. no. is K52134x.

Of course, some holster wear at the muzzle (not bad) and some at the front of the cylinder. All in all I'd call this gun about 78-82 %. The action is wonderfull, both double and single action.

Just wondered what a ballpark would be to give the chaplain a decent deal. I know - prolly kinda boaring for most of the guys on this forum...

Thanks! John

Any info. would be appreciated!

Hi, and welcome! It is a 1963 shipped gun, and as described I would guess its value at about $400-450. Interested to see what others think.

Default Mod 19-2

The s/n dates to 1963 manufacture; I would estimate $350 w/o the box.
But if your description is correct, I would say its above the 80% you are showing for condition. I am seeing 1970's models in 90% or better with the box going for $500 or so.

Thanks guys! Guess I a m doing OK - I guesstimated "bet. 3 & 400" when I picked them up today. (The other handgun involved is an older Ruger MKI with 6 7/8" barrel and micro rear sight in very nice condition....I'll have to chk the Ruger site now!)

I don't think you would see such a revolver priced between $300 -- $400 in my area. Even with a lot of finish issues, they seem to start at $500 and accelerate upward quickly from there.

I think too many folks have seen articles in the gun rags talking up the M19 ("the best revolver of the 20th Century" or the like) so that these go for a premium. Whether they are worth it or not is debatable.

You couldn't touch that gun for under $500 here.

I'll go with the $500 estimate. Might bring more than that.

If you could find a nice 4" 19-3 locally, without the box & docs, $500 would be the asking price. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.
