Default Looking for research help.

My Father-in-law has asked me to find out some info on his collection of Smith pistol. Any help is appreciated.
He has the following:

Model 63 ______Ser# 525______22LR
Model ? _____Ser# ss444_____32 Long
Model 60_____Ser# AFS7466_____38 Spcl
Model 28-2_____Ser# N89145_____357 Mag
Model 66-2_____Ser# AJP2207_____357 Mag

If I could throw mine as well. I have:

Model 10-5_____Ser# 17710_____38 Spcl

All of the pistols appear to have 4 inch barrel (I have not seen the Model 60 though).

Thanks in advance.
RH

RH, welcome to the forum. You will find lots of folks here who will be glad to assist you, but we are going to need a little more info to get started. First, please check your serial numbers. Most will have some kind of letters or letter in them, eg, M 525---, or 8K 1234--.
List the SN's like this: x'ing out only the last 2 digits, but being sure to include all the letters.

Model 60 (no dash) (or -1, -2 etc); S# M 52512XX

Serial numbers will be found on the crane which swings the cylinder out as well as the butt of the frame. Do not confuse them with some other extemporaneous #'s which are meaningless except in the manufacturing process

Next we need to know what kind of info you want. Approximate date of manufacture? (and it will just be an approximation) Value? etc. For value info, pictures of the weapon are just about a necessity as well as does the gun have original box, papers, tool kit etc. What else would you want to know.?

That should at least give us a starting point on the guns listed.
Again, welcome!
Regards,
Tom

Looks like some serial numbers and part numbers are mixed in your post. The model 60 is 84-85, model 28 is about 1983 and model 66 is about 1986 and no, the model 60 will not have a 4 inch barrel - most likely 2 or could be 3 inch
