Default model 51 4 inch ??

I have an opportunity to pick one up in mint condition ,no box or papers. Don't know much about his model. Any info would be appreciated and an idea on fair price would be helpful. If i get this I would be interested in a box and papers.
Thanks
gary

has 3.5in bbl. can be blued or nickel, factory nickel much harder to find. rb much more scarce the sb. cal is 22 wmr. noisy little things to shoot. extra cylinder in 22 lr a big plus. would need pics to see which variation and condition for a price. flat latch guns bring a premium. standard blued sb gun in collector condition should start at around $575-600 and go up depending on the above extras. just my opinion of course and you don't see a lot of them for sale. if you want a 22 mag to shoot, i would buy a model 48 personally.

Here is my blue round butt Model 51 with both 22 mag, and 22 lr cylinders with original box and an extra correct vintage set of smooth Rosewood grips. I got all of this for $695 last year.

Anyone know if S&W makes the 22 cylinder after the fact or did it only come with the gun when purchased?

at one time you could send the gun back to smith for fitting an extra cylinder. if you have the original box, it would be noted on the label if ordered with extra cylinder.
