Default Model 66 K-frame Combat Magnum

I inherited this gun when my Grandfather passed away. I have several other Smith's of his but this is the one that lead me here. He carried this alot and it was the first "big bore" revolver I ever fired.

Still runs like new and looks great. With it is his Bianchi #5BHL holster.

This ain't no safe queen. She shoots well and accurately. And is now taking the place as my daily carry gun.

Just thought I'd brag about an old gun that means a lot. Oh and also thank all of you for a great forum and helping me piece some history together on this particular gun. Especially Chris.

Nice rig all the way around. It looks to be a 66-1 or no dash, which makes it worth a small fortune, but I agree you should carry it and shoot it. You won't find a better CCW, in my opinion.

Congrats! Nice 66 snubby. I agree with stiab, it doesn't get any better than that, and won't.

Enjoy your 66. Regards 18DAI.

Looks like your grandfather knew his guns - I can't think of any finer carry revolver than a pinned and recessed Model 66 with a 2 1/2" barrel!

I sought one for years, and finally acquired this beauty. It's a 66-1, fitted with Ahrends finger-groove concealment stocks. I treated it to an action job by Nelson Ford. I consider it the ideal concealment revolver if serious social work is a possibility.

That is fine firearm and the fact it was your grandfather's makes it even better. My 66s are both no dash and 4" and 2 1/2". Right now they wear pacs but the wood is carefully tucked away in their boxes. WG

Photos are all magnificant 66s.

Treasure that nice old 66 as a legacy to you and your family from your grandfather - to me that's it's real value.

I view Ks to be unnecessarily big and heavy for ccw and I cannot understand why folks would carry them. I own several and I'm a huge fan, but I carry far lighter, more comfortable and concealable guns. Of course to each his own.

I am forced to agree. My model 66 no dash is a wonderful weapon in every way.....except carry. It must be carried in a holster of some short, not inside the waist, and not in a pocket. It is just a little to heavy and bulky without leather. That being the case, most any 4 inch will work just as well and being as leather is required, why not go to a 44 special, 45 acp, or even a 44 mag? Yes, the 357 is a great performer without a doubt but the 2 1/2 inch version produces considerable muzzle blast with any reasonable magnum load and will produce deafness if fired in any confined area. While I love mine, it is not my carry piece of choice....again due to it been a little to large and little to heavy. JMHO
