Default Presentation Case Question?

I've reflocked several 70's presentation cases and they turned out great....but...... I've seen pictures of some that came with a couple of yellow pull tabs to lift the bottom liner out (to get to papers etc.) and I want to add those to a couple of my cases.

Can someone tell me what the original yellow pulls are made of? Of the 15 or so cases that I have bought, none had the pull tabs.

Are they a stiffer plastic type material or something more similar to a heavy ribbon? Just wondering...

Thanks...Craig

The yellow band you are referring to is made of very stiff plastic. It goes under the bottom liner so you can lift it out to access the literature that was shipped with the revolver.

Good morning Doc.....and thanks.
I've seen several pictures but never had the pleasure in person.
Did all the cases come with them and did they quit supplying them at some point in the 70's?
Craig....

The cases I remember them being shipped with dated from 1975 to the end of 1978 (possibly a little later). I have at least one good example in my collection that was shipped with a 29-2 in September 1976 (see photo below).

It is much like the banding or strapping material used in factories to secure boxes to pallets. Yellow may be hard to find.

I have one that came with a Model 57 shipped in 1975. Pownal55 is correct stating that they are a lot like the plastic straps that secure boxes to pallets.

Default Blue plastic pull!

I have a type B case(1969-1975) in my collection for a 29-2 8 3/8" I have reflocked that has a light blue plastic pull.

I have had others with this pull and small sign. The yellow pull on the later case is more common, however I don't believe it was used on all cases of that era.

Default JCELECT....

JCELECT.....
I figured if there was an anomoly out there....you'd have it. One of the reasons I love this site. Thanks.

I have also never seen the small sign or the blue pull before.

Thanks again...

1. how do you reflock a case????? the older cases had a soft foam on top and a styrefoam on the bottom and the flocking comes loose and sticks to the gun. the newer is a formed plastic thing that sometimes cracks but, doesn't hurt the gun. the yellow lift piece is a 1/2" X10 to 11" strip of bendable plastic that is formed to look woven. it really looks like the banding tape, but isn't fiberglass like the pallet tape.
