Default When did Smith quit making the Model 10

I don't visit the Smith & Wesson factory website much, but when did the Model 10 stop production? I could not find it anywhere on the sight, even when I searched for caliber by .38 Special. It is indeed a dark day if Smith quit making the workhorse of their production line for that many years and how many millions of guns.

Oh man, I just checked out the site, and it looks like they just have the classic version now. The newer version with the rubber grips is nowhere to be found on their website.

Hopefully it's just a mistake with the website; I love Model 10s.

I too would lament the passing of the Model 10, but does it really matter? Who would really buy a new one, with the lock no less? It's my favorite revolver and I'm perfectly happy with my 10-6. If I want a shiney new one, I'll get my old one reblued and buy some nice grips.

Never fear, the Model 10 is still in production. For 2010, it is in the Classic line. The only difference between the current and the previous version is the wooden stocks and the SKU number. The Classic even retains the desirable round butt.

Security companies, to arm their guards.

Hi,

The model 10 is still in production. The model 10-14 can be bought. I have one.

Enclosed is the picture of my model 10-14.

Ah yes, the model 10. Spent many a year with a 6" model riding in a Bianchi holster on the streets. It only got replaced when I had a chance to swap it out for a 4" bull barrel model. Then we went to speed loaders instead of dump pouches. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. But the "2nd coming" was when we were issued JHP +P ammo instead of RN / SWC lead standard ammo. Whoaaaaaa! Now that was the hot poop!

The model 10 is so iconic for S&W I would think it would never be discontinued, or at least that's what I would like to think.

Being that it is the longest continuous production handgun, well over 100 years, it would be a real shame to see that end.

Hope the "Classic" line are sellers....with the gun market seeming to lean toward "tactical" (hence plastic and AR look alikes) it would be easy to justify eliminating the "Classic" line due to lack of sales, cost of production etc....
