Fair price for S&W Model 13-2?
I'm thinking of selling my S&W Model 13-2, .357 magnum, round butt, 3" barrel, pinned and recessed in about 97% condition. What would be a fair asking price?

Hi, and welcome! I'd guess a little lower, $500 or so without the box and contents, $550 with all the stuff. The P/R 3" are much less common but the later versions routinely sell in the mid $400 range.

If I saw a 3" M-13 for $500, I'd snag it. I'd expect to pay $550 for a good one.

Hello New member and question about history of S&W model 13-2
I have an old, don't know how old S&W 13-2 with model 13-2 and then F22 and 30661 stamped on frame in front of cylinder. also it has 6D06320 on the butt on the frame. Is there anyway to find out the age or first shipping date etc.
I have four hand guns. Two are smiths and two are Rugers, plus this model 13-2 if I decide to keep it. This is my first post. Thanks

I just obtained a Model 13-3 in the 3.0" barrelled, round butt configuration for $200.00 plus a very nice Model 4006 with box and 2 magazines. The Model 13 is pristine, but no box, docs, etc., and S&W, but not original grips. The original asking price for the Model 13 was $599.95, which I think is a bit steep given the lack of the box, etc., but the 3.0" barrelled Model 13 and Model 65 are hard to find, plus the condition of the one I bought is excellent - I don't think it was fired much, if at all outside of the factory - plus the buyer offered me $400.00 trade on my Model 4006. Too good of a deal to walk away from.
Best of luck,
Dave

Thank you so much. I'm unfamiler with computers and forums, but have some experience with handguns from military. I think I will spring for the $ 350 for the model 13-2. It is in very good condition.

Anybody would, as that price is very resonable.
You will not lose anything if you decide to sell.

I am crossing my fingers that the one I have my eye on is available when I can get away. I am uber excited. I have had a 4" 13 that I converted to a round butt and a 2.5" 19 that I foolishly sold. I am drooling at the thought of grabbing a 3". So much I dont think I can try to negotiate.

Price in CA
The price for a 357-2 is between $500-$700 it of course depends on the person and how bad they want it. It might be sold as a collectible?

Welcome to the FORUM! 3 inchers are going for more stated in the replies. This started in 2010. Kind of outdated. Not too many people want to part with the 3". Bob

Check Gunbroker for what they're currently selling for.
California prices are higher generally and I could see a 3" 13 going for $800 easily.

This thread is seven years old. Look carefully at the date of each post as the prices mentioned reflect the market at that time.

I paid $500 for my 1979 Model 13-2 last year and remain happy with the transaction. It is a very good shooter and gets along well with my Model 10-8.

Don't you just love these resuscitated old threads, like a time capsule. Going rate for a 13-3 in my neck of the woods is 600-650.....had a lead on one but it was gone before I could even get the seller to respond....oh well.

I wouldn't consider less than $650 for mine. People are not selling these unless they have more than one>>>

I would like to revise and correct my remarks (from 7 years ago) :
A 3" pinned and recessed 13-2 is more along the lines of a $750-800 gun today.

Looking at a 3" model 13-2. Looks to be in the 90% range with the original box. Guy is asking $550 for it. Thoughts?

Yeah....
Why haven't you bought it yet?
That's my thought.

Gonna try and meeting the guy Sunday. Got him down to $500. Box matches, but no paperwork or tools with it. Ought to match up perfect with my 3" 65-3.
