Model 29-2 shipped in mid-1969. The Goncalo alves stocks are particularly nice.

Very nice piece as usual. The grips do have a fantastic grain.

That really is a beauty! I'm particularly interested in your photography. What kind of camera/lighting do you use and where do you place the gun for photgraphing? I'm jealous!

Bill,
Were the "Coke Bottle" stocks discontinued by 1969? I noticed these stocks in the photo had the smaller checkering area than the Cokes.

Alan...Coke bottle stocks were discontinued as early as March 1967 and possibly by late 1966.

This is ironic. Just looked at a 4" nickel 29-2 today. SN#300088 in a beautiful box with all the tools. What is the current asking price for this vintage? I prefer your blue gun Doc, but this is the first 29-2 I have seen in about 5 years.

The current market on "N" prefix guns seems to be running $850 and up if as you describe. "S" prefix guns seem to command a $100-$200 premium over that. You didnt indicate the prefix on the number you gave, but if it is an "S" and the gun is in the earlier nickel configuration with the blue front sight the value could be more.

The prefix is "N". I am not qualified to judge the condition except to say it had no turn line and based on others I've seen would be 98%+. The wooden box was complete with tools and the box liner was perfect. Dealer did not know how much the gun had been fired, but it could pass for unfired and NIB. Sorry I don't have a picture. Dealer was asking $1050 which I thought was a little high, but considering how scarce they are around here, perhaps that price is correct. Thanks for the information. Sorry if I have hijacked DOC's thread.

I doubt Bill would consider this a hijack. At $1050 I would say that's a little high and think you could do better. However, guns in the shape you describe are becoming harder to find.

Colosimo's is right in my hood not far away. I believe it is still a fully operational gunshop (may have a small pistol range too) but I have not been there in some time. I had no idea it was in operation way back then! Pretty neat to see a familiar place mentioned here. Too bad I wasn't there to pick up that gun in 69, but I didn't materialize for another 2 years...

Beautiful 29-2 by the way Bill. That model IS my personal favorite. Keep 'em coming.....

Anyone know the current market value for a 90% Model 29-2 in blue with the 4" bbl.?

One I'm looking at is just the revolver, no box or tools/papers.

I would not have a problem spending $900 to $1000.00 for a nice [98%] or better 4in 29-2 if NIB maybe a little more. there getting harder to find all the time.[ I have 2 a nickel and a blue ].............................M*

Beautiful!!!

Like I've been saying...out here in Californy...that gun would have gone fast even without the box at 1050.00.

According to my buying habits and availability here, that was a deal!

Congratulations...

Just beautiful Doc44. I'm also a big fan of the 4 inch Md 29s. Your post inspired me to post a pic of mine. I believe my 29-2 was shipped ca 1969-1972 according the my SCSW. The serial number is 20649. Maybe someone can help determine a more precise date.

loeman...N20649 probably shipped in mid to late 71. 29-2s, N20388 and N20859 shipped in July and December, 1971, respectively. Great looking 44 Magnum!!!
