Thumbs up Show off your unusual/modified Model 28 thread!

Thought I would start a thread where people with unique Highway Patrolmen could show off their Guns. For example: Barrels longer than 6" or shorter than 4 inches / chrome, nickel or engraved finishes / Caliber conversions or any other oddities or factory rarities y'all have out there!

Here's my contribution.

Took my model 28, threw away the frame & cylinder and screwed on one from a model 27!

One of the fifty plus 28-2s shipped in July 1972 with a factory brushed nickel finish. Target stocks are period correct, but not original as the revolver was shipped with checked Magna stocks.

Here is a M-28 Highway Patrol with barrel cut to 3.5", 41 Mag and round butt conversions, Mag-Na-Ported, fiber optic sights and SS Metalife finish.

01shm, thanks for the photo. The 28 appears to have been chrome plated and your photo is a good example of the difference in color between nickel and chrome as the 58 appears to be a nickel gun. I imagine plating was very popular in AL to combat the heat and humidity.

You are correct John, the 58 was returned to S&W in the 1965 range for a nickel plating as the star* would indicate.
The 28 was chrome plated and at least they didn't plate the Trigger and hammer, but managed to plate the Rear blade assy
