Date of manufacture Serial number 1K282XX
Just bought a beautiful 14-3 at a local gun show for $300. I am wondering what it is worth and when it was made. Gun is 98% with gorgeous bore.

Welcome to the forum.
1970 and it's worth more than $300.

Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson says 57K0001 to 91K6800 were shipped in 1980.

This is the manufactured date, not the ship date. Ship dates and manufacture dates are not the same.
S&W would do a run of guns and put them in the vault, then ship them as orders came in. Some guns were stored for years before they went out, and were not necessarily shipped in serial number order.

1K1 – 1K39,500.............1970 (manufacture). Shipping date will always be later than manufacturing date, it could well have shipped in 1971.
