Default Removing nailpolish from a nickel plated revolver.

I'd like to try using nailpolish remover to remove some red nail polish from a rear sight on a factory nickeled revolver. Will this harm the finish? If I can't use the remover, what can I use?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

NP remover , usually acetone , or lacquer thinner will take care of it and will not harm nickel.
