Default S&W Model 69 Revolver

A co-worker has a S&W model 69. It has a 6 inch barrel and reads .357 magnum on it (I do not know where on the revolver it says that). Any help with it's history would be appreciated. I don't need to know the specific year but would like an approx. date range of production and any other tidbits. Thanks.

The catalog says the M69 is "Experimental". Are you sure that's what it says? The M68 was a 6" .38 Spl that was identical in appearance to the M66 only chambered for the .38 Spl instead of the .357 Magnum. It was produced for the California Highway Patrol from 1976 to 1983. The CHP stamp was overstamped OHB when sold to the public. They are kind of rare.
Post pictures and a serial number if you can.
