Default Mod 19-4 nickel - what box

Bought a beautiful nickel Mod 19-4 6 inch barrel a few years ago that was in a wooden presentation case. S/N 65kxxxx which puts its DOM around 1980. The presentation case had the cleaning rod, brush and mop included.

The thing that bothers me is that the gun seems too small for the opening and the 6 inch barrel seems too short for the opening in the liner of the box. I guess the liner openings could have been one size fits all, for different size guns. It seems like this box and liner may have been made for a N frame 6 1/2 inch gun. Was the nickel Model 19-4 ever sold with a wood presentation case. If not what kind of box would the Mod 19 have been sold with. I've added a few pictures to show the box and Mod 19 in it.
Thanks.

I believe you are correct here. The box should be the blue two-piece Bangor Punta box. The presentation case, if in nice condition, is worth $100+.

Some K frame commemorative guns came with the wood box, but you are correct that the box was probably built for a 6.5" N frame.

I have added pictures (not very good) of the wooden box and the Mod 19 in the box. As you can see the opening around the front sight is made for a ramp sight rather than the squared style (patridge) on the 19.
I guess my mission now is to find a proper era two piece box for the Mod 19 that indicates it was for a nickel gun. If the wooden box is for an N frame, I have an issue since I don't currently own a N frame, either I buy a N frame or sell the box. Too many decisions.

Didn't the nickel revolvers come in a gray two-piece Bangor Punta box?

The only ones I've seen on ebay for the nickel revolvers are the gray boxes. But the only ones I've seen are for the .38 and not for the .357 k frames. I'm not sure I've seen a correct era box for the 6" nickel .357 mag k frames.

My model 19-4 2.5" came in a silver Bangor box, Model 19-4
4" came in a blue Bangor. The 4" has a earlier s/n and both are Nickel.

GF - Nice looking Mod 19 and thanks for the picture. This is the silver (or gray) two piece box I was thinking it would be. I just haven't been able to find one for a Mod 19 6 inch nickel.
