Default 5" 29-2 Purchase

Just wanted to show this 29-2 ,my latest purchase. This gun was actually shipped in 1976 and did not ship as a 5" gun. The earlier Diamond Targets were added buy the previouse owner who was kind enough to leave them on. The quality & workmanship on the barrel cut & front sight remount was what drove me to buy this piece. I doubt that I could find or afford an original. We all enjoy pics so I figured I would post a couple.

That is my grail gun. The work is great looking too. If the need to move it on down the road comes up, give me a shout.

Nicely done.

One I think S&W missed the boat on by not making a standard offering.

Default Nice 5er

As the owner of a few 5 inch 29s, I can tell you that it will quickly become your favorite. I think the five inch barrel in the 29 really is the ideal balance, at least for me. Great find.

Great looking revolver. The production year brings back memories of the height of S&W in their production of revolvers.

Congrats,

Very nice revolver - and excellent gunsmithing ! I have a 6" Model 57 that I'm thinking of converting to a 5" - would it be possible to find out who did the conversion ?

I have long believed the 5" barrel is the best looking and best balanced length for the N-frame S&Ws. When I can't find a factory version I sometimes resort to having longer barrels cut down. Always done to shooters rather than pristine examples of any given model.
