Default N frame Presentation stocks...What do they fit?

I have these grips but not sure why the cutout on the right panel. Were these for a presentation model or were they made for use on an N frame with the lower positioned trademark?
No date stamp on the inside. Thanks, Bob

They could have been taken off an Anniversary Edition, or even a particular model for a Law Enforcement Agency. Their crest or badge would go on the right side.

Nice grips btw

I've actually seen regular target grips with the same design right panel. Maybe VM will see this and enlighten us.

Judging by the screw escutcheons and the football relief, I'd say they're from the late very '60's - '82 time frame. Maybe off of a model 25-3?

My two guesses are first...M544 44-40 and second guess would be 25-3.

Photog-

I thought about that too, but I didn't include the 544 because they came out after the switch to the full speed loader cutout on the left panel.

As 01shm suggests, the cutout was to allow room for a crest / badge / whatever on the sideplate without said artwork being partially obscurred by the wood.

I also thought about the model 25-3 but on that gun of all the photos I have seen, the grips are very light and rarely have any grain. These would be a rarity on that model. Bob

The only possibility amoung the "official" S&W commemoratives is the 125th Model 25-3. The Texas Wagon Train Model 544 is cut on both sides. The Texas Ranger Model 19 looks like these but they are of course smaller.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any other lesser known commemoratives, or what Jinks calls Special Products, that have these stocks.
